Branson’s Shepherd of the Hills Inspiration Tower is aptly named, it’s presence on the horizon is truly an inspirational sight! Before you set out to explore, you’ll find that Branson Show Tickets often points visitors toward experiences like this that showcase both the beauty and the history of the Ozarks.
Towering 230 feet over the Branson countryside on an Ozarks’ mountain top known as Inspiration Point, the structure can be seen for miles and miles around. Constructed in 1989, the sturdy building of steel, glass, stone, and concrete can withstand a constant wind of 172 miles per hour, and wind gusts at an incredible 224 miles per hour. It contains an impressive 92,000 pounds of steel, and the entire structure weighs in at around 3 million pounds! With more than 4,400 square feet of glass, it’s easy to understand why Inspiration Tower is the ideal location for viewing the beautiful Branson hills and valleys.
Although the Tower was built for observation purposes, the owner quickly saw its value a few years back as a launching spot for one of the world’s newest extreme adventure attractions - a zipline! Thus was the beginning of the Vigilante Extreme ZipRider, a thrilling experience that launches seated riders down from the Tower at speeds of up to 45 miles per hour!
Ziplining is exciting of course, but Inspiration Tower’s original purpose is still its most fascinating. Guests can take one of the two glass-enclosed elevators to the sizable, enclosed observation deck for the best views you’ll find anywhere in the area. Looking out over the Ozarks' hilly terrain is certainly a sight to behold, largely covered with trees that look gloriously green in the warmest months, stunningly colorful in Autumn, and even starkly beautiful during winter when only the abundant pines keep their color. With a 360-degree view, a clear day allows visibility of up to an astonishing 90 miles away! If you want to feel the mountain fresh air on your face as you take in the view, a short stairway brings you down to an open-air deck.
You can enjoy a visit to the Tower even if you stay on the ground floor; there’s an ample inventory of souvenirs, including books on the history of the Shepherd of the Hills Homestead, in the first level gift shop. You'll also find snack foods and convenient restrooms on the same floor.

Inspiration Tower is located on the Shepherd of the Hills Homestead & Adventure Park.
The Homestead & Adventure Park can be found at 5586 West Highway 76, just a couple of minutes beyond the main stretch of The Strip.
The Tower is accessible to the disabled.
Cameras and video cameras are permitted while visiting Shepherd of the Hills Inspiration Tower.
You'll find a gift shop, snack bar, and restrooms on the ground level of the Tower.

Nearly everyone knows that Branson is brimming with things to see and do, but it’s still a fairly well-kept secret that visitors have easy access to the most stunning view available of the entire area. Great place to see! Beautiful view! You can see the lake and mountains! The beauty is so breathtaking and you can learn about The Shepard of the Hills.they have a gift shop and lots of nice things. You can get the book Shephard of the Hills there. Beautiful!!

This viewing tower offers an amazing view for miles. There is lots of information at the top of the tower to read, and more activities at the bottom. The tower was awesome at night. At 9:15 Silver Dollar City starts a drone and fireworks show, this tower offered an amazing view of this. We really enjoyed going here in the morning, leaving and coming back at night to watch the sunset and the fireworks! 10/10 would recommend.

Enjoyable experience, pricey and every single thing is priced separately, we went up the tower, did the Zipline down from the tower and did the mountain coaster during the day and at night. Tower: ehhh, nothing amazing, cool history but views aren't anything special, very warm inside, accessible via elevator. Zipline from tower: ehhh, I'm a thrill seeker and this was not thrilling, felt more like an open air elevator ride versus a fun zip line. Went fast, but not steep so no stomach drop, and the experience lasts maybe 2 minutes, then a tram and truck drove you back to the top (almost cooler than the Zipline itself, our driver was funny and shared history of the hills). Coaster: way better than the one in town of Branson, fun and fast, my 60yr old mom and me (30) squeeled and laughed our way down, we are both plus size and had no difficulty fitting or getting in/out, we even return at night to go again (night ride is a little underwhelming but still fun), pretty much a once or twice experience then the thrill is lost. The staff didn't provide us our GoPro receipt so unfortunately no proof of the experience, but we did get free tickets to return for their mistake. Park: cool park with unique swings, teeter totters, and human-sized, light-up flowers, insects, etc. cool to see but an extra cost to enter so we just looked from the coaster. Also has a ropes course, souvenir store, some snacks, and a shooting arcade game (extra charges). Parking and entrance are on a steep incline, which may be inaccessible for some.

A very long wait even though we had purchased tickets in advance. Our time was set for 3:30. The girls actually got on the coaster at 4:40.

Our group of four went to see The Shepherd of the Hills play, and unfortunately none of us really understood the story as it was presented. The characters and plot felt confusing, and some parts (like the “ghost” and boy subplot) seemed very different from what my parents remembered from seeing it years ago. The next day we went back to the park and read about the history of the original book, which actually helped the story make much more sense. I think the play would have been easier to follow if we had known more of the background beforehand. On the positive side: the seats were comfortable, the staff were very nice, and I especially enjoyed the petting zoo. We didn’t get to ride any of the rides because lightning was within 10 miles, but the park seemed okay overall — not spectacular, but pleasant enough to walk around. Overall, I’m glad we experienced it once, but I wish the play had explained the story more clearly for newcomers.
